GIULIANI WANTED LINE CLEAR, GOLISANO SAYS.(CAPITAL REGION)(Correction notice)

B. Thomas Golisano said Thursday that one of New York's most prominent Republicans, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, asked him several months ago to consider a gubernatorial run on the Liberal Party line and to leave the Independence Party line for Gov. George Pataki.

Golisano said he received the call from Giuliani in the spring, long before he announced he would try to wrest the Independence line from Pataki in a primary battle and bounce the governor off the Conservative line through a write-in campaign.

TOWN RECREATION FEES MAY JUMP IN WILTON.(Local)

As part of its 1991 budget, the town is considering charging more to participate in Recreation Department programs. A recent boom of families with school-aged children moving into the area has caused the program to expand into one of the largest in Saratoga County, with more than 600 participants during the summer months.

Nominees for the People's Choice Awards are out, and the people choose vampires.

"Twilight" and "True Blood" were among the top nominees announced Tuesday. Fans cast more than 18 million votes online to select the nominee slate and will also choose the winners in 35 categories.

Israel, Palestinians OK Gaza Cease-Fire

JERUSALEM - Israel and the Palestinians agreed to a cease-fire Saturday to end a five-month Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip and the firing of rockets by Palestinian militants into the Jewish state - a major step toward possibly reviving long-stalled peace talks.

The cease-fire was to go into effect at 6 a.m. Sunday (11 p.m. Saturday EST), both sides said.

The state Democratic Party said Monday that it would make public computerized records for New York's top GOP campaign committees.

The Democrats said they had computerized records that the Republican State Committee and Gov. George Pataki's campaign committee filed last week with the state Board of Elections.

Since early this year, the Democrats have made their own state committee financial filings available to the media on computer disks, but Republicans have not.
