Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Gago Oganesyan developed an interest for drawing and painting at a young age. This childhood pastime soon became a passion. Gago graduated from the H. Kojoyan Art School and Terlemezian Art College in Yerevan, and in 1985 he received his master's degree in fine arts from the Art Academy of Yerevan.
After graduating, Gago traveled extensively throughout Europe. The rich cultural and artistic traditions he experienced abroad helped develop his inventive vision. He moved to the United States in 1991 and lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Yelena Geodakyan, and their daughter, Sona.
